Course Title: Thermal Fluid System.

Saqa Id: 116461

NQF: Level 4

Credit: 9

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The main objective of this course is to equip the learners with the knowledge and skills required to apply simulation in the design and optimization of complex thermal-fluid systems. It will therefore serve to refresh and enrich the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the relevant fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer. In addition to this, it will facilitate the application of these fundamentals by applying it to a range of simulation case studies that will be carried out with the aid of thermal-fluid system simulation tools.

COURSE CONTENT
1) Conservation principles for compressible and non compressible flows in pipes and ducts.
2) Frictional losses in laminar and turbulent flow, heat transfer with the environment
3) Solution of pipe network problems, pump and compressor sizing, flow balancing, compressible flow in pipes with and without heat transfer, pump and compressor modelling at off-design conditions and transient flows in pipe networks.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Engineers, Technologists and Technician who work in the area of simulation, design and optimization of complex liquid and gas reticulation networks such as chilled water distribution systems and compressed air plants.

Certification:

On successful completion of this workshop, learner will receive certificate of competency.
